Bobcat Men Take Nail-Biter from UNC Pembroke, 77-74

Box Score

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – A big three-pointer by Terrell Harris (Indiantown, Florida) late helped Georgia College Men's Basketball (9-2, 2-0 PBC) get past UNC Pembroke (6-6, 0-3 PBC) 77-74 Saturday at the Centennial Center.

With 36.5 seconds left and the teams tied 74-74, Harris curled around a pick from Isaac Thomas (Trion) and knocked down a clutch three from the right wing. Although both teams had multiple possessions left, the two squads combined to miss six free throws in the final half-minute to keep the score the same to the final horn.

Harris' 28 points led all scorers, hitting 12-for-17 from the field. He added four assists as well. Senior Ryan Blumenthal (Acworth) had one of his more active games of late, netting 15 points with seven boards, a team-best five assists and three steals.

The Bobcats out-shot UNCP 55 percent (27-49) to 43 percent (28-65) and hit five more from long range (9-4). What kept the Braves in the contest was their sheer domination on the glass at 46-22, including a massive 23 offensive rebounds.

Brandon Winford led four double-digit scorers for UNCP, hitting for 15 points with seven boards.

Harris made his way into the top-10 in all-time scoring at Georgia College with today's effort, passing both Ronnie Sims (1982-84) and Tim Northcut (1987-91) into ninth place. Harris now has 1,185 career points, 111 behind eighth place and Graham Martin (2006-10).

Senior Rio McMillian's (Chicago Heights, Illinois) three blocks in today's action gives the senior 71 in his career, passing current GC Women's Basketball assistant coach Jeremy Mayweather (2005-06) for eighth place in school history.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Jan. 2 at 3:30 p.m., hosting the University of North Georgia (3-8, 1-1 PBC). The Nighthawks most recently lost to Armstrong State University today, 77-73.
