#20 Bobcat Men's Tennis Dominates Francis Marion, 8-0

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 20 Georgia College men's tennis team (8-6, 4-1 PBC) snapped its four-match skid with a win over Francis Marion University (6-6, 2-4 PBC), 8-0 Sunday at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.

The Bobcats kicked off the day in doubles, as the No. 23 duo of Yannick Hass (Troisdorf, Germany) and Vincent Castermans (Grenoble, France) took the set from Richard Ashforth and Jannik Roettlingsberger, 8-4. The second doubles slot saw Jannik Kumbier (Neumuster, Germany) and Taylor Powell (Martinez) defeat Gavin Davison and Marius Wahlier from Francis Marion, 8-6.

Mattia Campus (Concorezzo, Italy) and teammate Pedro Ecenarro (Santiago de Compostela, Spain) finished doubles with an 8-1 win over Dion Nijboer and Eimon Heywook. The Bobcat third doubles pair is now 8-4 on the season, owning the team lead in victories.

It did not take long for Georgia College to improve on its 3-0 lead, as Hass took the number one singles match against No. 13 Ashforth, 7-6, 6-1. Hass now has back-to-back wins over nationally-ranked opponents in Ashforth and No. 20 Jui Mao from Concordia College.

Clinching the match at the second singles slot was Castermans, who defeated Davison of the Patriots, 4-6, 6-3, 6-1. Kumbier downed Roettlingberger in two sets, 6-4, 6-4, to seal the number three singles match. Taking fourth singles for the Bobcats was Ecenarro, beating Nijboer, 6-0, 6-3. The Bobcat freshman is the first to double-digit singles wins at 10-2. Sealing Georgia College's shutout was Anton Waern (Taby, Sweden) over Francis Marion's Haywood, 6-3, 6-0.

The Bobcats will hit the court again Friday, April 3 traveling to No. 31 USC Aiken, with the match set for 2 p.m.
