Box Score PEMBROKE, N.C. – For the second-straight season, the Georgia College women's basketball team (16-12) has taken a West No. 4-seed all the way to the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Championship game. The Bobcats beat West No. 2-seed University of North Georgia (21-9) 65-51 Saturday in the PBC Semifinal.
The Bobcats now take on West No. 1-seed Columbus State University, who dispatched East No. 2 seed USC Aiken with ease today 84-48. The PBC Championship game is set for Sunday, March 8 at 2 p.m.
The Bobcats came out flat-footed, UNG putting them in a 10-0 hole early. The Bobcats responded, whittling away gradually at the deficit to take their first lead at the halftime score of 24-23.
The Second half was all Bobcats, as Georgia College won the frame 41-28 with some stingy defense.
Senior forward Enisha Donley (Loganville, Georgia) finished with 22 points and nine rebounds, the All-PBC Second Team selection hitting 9-of-14 from the floor. Sophomore LaRice Walker (Franklin, Georgia) made her third trip to the 20-point plateau in her career with 20 points, including 15 after halftime. The point guard nabbed seven rebounds, and went 10-for-13 from the line to help ice the game.
Senior Shanteona Keys (Roswell, Georgia) played a balanced game, with 13 points, seven rebounds and a game-high four assists for the All-PBC First Team pick.
The Bobcats held North Georgia to just 32 percent (18-56) shooting for the game, including only 5-for-25 from long range. Georgia College finished the game at 40 percent (22-55) shooting, adding 10 steals and six blocks.
PBC Co-Player of the Year Stephanie Huffman had 20 points and 12 rebounds, but got little help. Kelsey Hutchins added 10 points.
