Box Score

FLORENCE, S.C. – For the second time in four games, senior Dwight Anderson (Minneapolis, Minnesota) set a career-high in scoring, but it wasn't enough, as Georgia College Men's Basketball (14-7, 7-5 PBC) dropped a 91-74 game at Francis Marion University (12-8, 5-7 PBC) Saturday.

Anderson hit for 24 points on 8-of-17 shooting overall, including 6-for-13 from long range. He also knocked down half of his four free-throw attempts.

Classmate Terrell Harris (Indiantown, Florida) was held under 20 points for just the fourth time this season, scoring 19 but ripping down 11 boards and dealing out four assists. Senior Ryan Blumenthal (Acworth, Georgia) came off the bench for 16 points, including four threes. The 16 was his best since Nov. 28 at Albany State University where he posted 23 points.

Junior guard Evyn Smith (Long Island, New York/Shiloh (Ga.)) responded well to his first start of the season with a game-high six assists and just one turnover.

The Bobcats shot just 31 percent (22-72) from the field, getting out-done by FMU at a 48 percent (31-56) clip. The Patriots had two scorers reach the 20-point mark, Detrek Browning at 23 points and Mike Davis, Jr. at 21.

Georgia College started the game hot, netting the first eight points of the contest. It took until the 2:33 mark of the first half for Francis Marion to get their first lead of the game, but it was one they would never surrender. There was just one lead change in the contest. FMU started the second half on a 12-0 run to push away from the Bobcats.

The loss puts Georgia College at 7-5 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, tied for fourth in the West Division. The top four teams advance to the PBC Tournament at the end of February.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 7:30 p.m., traveling to Augusta University (12-7, 8-4 PBC). The Jaguars most recently beat Clayton State University tonight 80-70.
