GC Men's Basketball De-Claws Falcons, 79-66

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Men's Basketball team (11-3, 4-1 PBC) played perhaps its best complete game of the season in dominating 2015 NCAA Sweet 16 program the University of Montevallo (7-5, 3-2 PBC) 79-66 Thursday in the Centennial Center.

Montevallo led 5-3 at the 18:28 mark in the first half, but that would be the end for the Falcons, Georgia College responding with a quick 15-0 run capped by a Rio McMillian (Chicago Heights, Illinois) steal and Terrell Harris (Indiantown, Florida) layup for the 18-5 lead.

The Bobcats maintained dominance the rest of the way, leading 40-23 at the half after a Harris buzzer-beating jumpshot. The Bobcats' largest lead came with 10:32 remaining in the second half when Isaac Thomas (Trion) swiped the ball and finished with a lay-in for a 57-34 lead.

Four Bobcats reached double-figure scoring, led by Harris with 24 points. The senior was 8-for-13 from the field and 8-for-10 at the free-throw line, adding eight boards.

Classmate Dwight Anderson (Minneapolis, Minnesota) had 16 points to go with a career-best nine assists, one shy of his first career double-double. Senior McMillian added 13 points off the pine, matching his career-high scoring output. The forward added four steals, three rebounds and a pair of assists.

The freshman forward Thomas finished with 12 points, seven rebounds, four steals, a pair of blocks and two assists.

The Bobcats knocked down 52 percent from the floor (27-52), and hit 20 of their 28 tries from the free-throw line. The Falcons managed just 34 percent shooting (19-56) and 30 from long range (8-27). The Bobcats also took better care of the ball, causing 16 turnovers while coughing it up just eight times.  

GC men's hoops is back in action Saturday, traveling to No. 18 Columbus State University (10-2, 4-1 PBC). The Cougars most recently lost to Georgia Southwestern State University 109-104 tonight.
