Box Score DUE WEST, S.C. – The Georgia College Women's Basketball team (8-1) ended 2016 on the right note, pulling in a 77-69 win over Erskine College (3-6) on the road Saturday. Junior Alyah McGriff (Suwanee, Georgia) had a massive 26-point, 14-rebound effort.
McGriff shot 11-for-19 from the floor, grabbing seven rebounds each on the offensive and defensive glass. It was the junior's third 20-10 game this season.
Senior guard Lindsey Reed (Stockbridge, Georgia) added 12 points with five rebounds, while classmate LaRice Walker (Franklin, Georgia) supported the cause with 11 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
Georgia College shook off the rust of a 12-day layoff pretty quickly, jumping out to a 21-15 lead after the first quarter.
The Bobcats dominated the rebounding effort 45-27, but the Flying Fleet held it close by causing 23 turnovers, a season-high for Georgia College. Nine of the 10 Bobcats to play in today's contest reached the scoring column. Georgia College closes the non-conference portion of the season at 6-1.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 10:30 a.m., traveling to USC Aiken.
