#13 GC Men's Tennis Cruises to Sweep over West Alabama, 5-0

By Sean Montgomery, Sports Information Assistant

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The No. 13 Georgia College Men's Tennis team (11-5) picked up a solid result in a 5-0 sweep of non-conference opponent University of West Alabama (9-8) Saturday at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility. The victory improves their home record to 10-1 on the season.

The Bobcat men started off strong, claiming winning results in each of the three doubles contests.

In the first slot, Jannik Kumbier (Neumünster, Germany) and Taylor Powell (Martinez) dominated, picking up the opening win for Georgia College with an 8-3 final over Caspar Schuetze and Julius Kaverinen.

Slots two and three proved to be much of the same for Georgia College, as Vincent Castermans (Grenoble, France) and Pedro Ecenarro (Santiago de Compostela, Spain) buzzed their way to an 8-5 victory over Christopher Wood and Nicolai Jachamowitz in the second, while Christian Graff (Lohmar, Germany) and Kyle Kinsler (Suwanee) defeated Henrik Sinkko and Prabh Bal 8-4 in the third to complete the doubles sweep.

Powell immediately extended the team's lead, stretching it to 4-0 with a second-slot singles win. The Bobcat senior once again made quick work of Kaverninen, claiming the 6-3 result in straight sets.

Graff finished next, closing out the day and completing the team sweep by getting the better of Wood in the third slot. Graff picked up the fifth team point, winning the match 6-2, 6-4.

The win ups the Bobcats' mark to 8-2 in non-conference action. The next match for the team will be Sunday, April 3; a road contest between nationally-ranked Peach Belt Conference-foe No. 50 Francis Marion University beginning at 11 a.m.
