Bobcats open fall season at ITA Regionals

SUMTER, S.C. | The Georgia College & State University men's tennis team opened their fall schedule this past weekend at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association NCAA Division II Southeast Region Championships at the Palmetto Tennis Center.

The Bobcats had three players - Chase Martin, Rodrigo Pérez Crespo and David Muñoz Botia - compete in the event. All three competed in singles, while Marin and Crespo teamed up in doubles.

Martin, who was seeded 16th in singles, advanced to the round of 16 in the 64-player draw before losing to No. 3 seed Pedro Liborio from the University of North Georgia 6-2, 6-3.  Botia advanced to the round of 32 and Crespo lost in the round of 64.

Crespo and Martin won their opening round doubles match before losing 9-7 in their round of 16 match to Liborio and Janos Varga, who were seeded No. 7 in the draw, 9-7.

The Bobcats return to action Friday (Oct. 3) at the Mercer Gridiron Classic in Macon, Georgia.
