Box Score AIKEN, S.C. – Despite having 10 days off between games, the Georgia College Women's Basketball team (5-4, 2-1 PBC) showed little rust Tuesday, getting a convincing 72-60 win over USC Aiken (3-6, 0-3 PBC).
The Bobcats led for the majority of the contest, including a double-digit advantage for the final 8:30 of the game. The win gives Georgia College four straight, going undefeated in December. The four-game win streak is tops in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC).
Senior Alyah McGriff (Suwanee, Georgia) led three Bobcats in double-figure scoring with 18 points, knocking down 8-for-13 from the field. Playing in her home state for the second time this season, Ta'Asia Wright (Denmark) poured in 12 points off the bench, yanking down 10 boards for her fourth double-double this season. Junior Sydney Cleveland (Gainesville, Georgia) added 11 points with eight rebounds.
Freshman Kenyatta Storms (Alpharetta, Georgia) had one of her best games thus far, scoring seven points with nine assists, five rebounds and three steals. Junior Erin Drynan (Chicago, Illinois) posted eight points with a massive six blocks.
The Bobcats controlled the paint, out-rebounding the Pacers 45-29, including a 21-11 advantage on the offensive glass. The Bobcats turned those offensive boards into a 24-6 advantage in second-chance points.
GC Women's Basketball is back in action Saturday, Dec. 30 at 1:30 p.m., playing host to Flagler College.
