Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Women's Basketball team (5-5, 2-2 PBC) saw a four-game win streak come to an end in a 65-63 loss to Peach Belt Conference (PBC) leader Flagler College (6-2, 4-0 PBC) Saturday at the Centennial Center.
The Bobcats battled back from a large mid-game deficit, trailing by as much as 13 with 5:28 left in the third quarter. The Bobcats eventually took the lead at 55-54 on a Brianna Davis (Rockford, Illinois) shot from long range with 6:23 left in the fourth.
After the teams traded baskets, the Bobcats came up empty on three consecutive possessions but still led 63-62. The Saints' point guard Alex Alford then sent a blistering pass through the Bobcats' zone to Rayven Wade for a layup and the lead. The Bobcats' own go-ahead effort came up short with five seconds left, and after a free throw put the score to 65-63, the game expired on a half-court heave from Georgia College.
Davis and Alyah McGriff (Suwanee) shared the team lead with 17 points each, the latter adding 10 rebounds for her fifth double-double of the season. All of Davis' points came after halftime. Junior Erin Drynan (Chicago, Illinois) had 10 points and six rebounds, while senior Ta'Asia Wright (Denmark, South Carolina) reversed those numbers with 10 boards and six points. Freshman Kenyatta Storms (Alpharetta, Georgia) tallied eight assists to go with six steals.
The difference came at the free-throw line, where Georgia College made their lone attempt for the 40 minutes, but Flagler knocked down 15-for-21.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Jan. 3 at 5:30 p.m., traveling to Georgia Southwestern State University.
