Box Score ALBANY, Ga. – Picking up a series sweep for the season, the Georgia College Women's Basketball team (4-4) beat Albany State University (5-6) 63-56 on the road Saturday night.
Senior Alyah McGriff (Suwanee) posted a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double, her fourth of the year. McGriff led a trio in double-figure scoring, as junior Sydney Cleveland (Gainesville) netted 13 and classmate Erin Drynan (Chicago, Illinois) 12.
A strong second-half effort cut into the lead set up early by the Bobcats, as the Golden Rams took over in the fourth, leading 53-49 with just under 7:00 left. Georgia College scored on three consecutive possessions, capped by a McGriff three, to take the lead over at 56-53 with 3:58 left. Georgia College would never trail for the remainder of the contest.
Georgia College out-shot the Rams 42 percent (26-62) to 34 percent (22-64) from the floor and had a 43-36 advantage in rebounding.
Drynan has reached double-figure scoring for four-straight games now, a streak lasting back to Nov. 27. She added three blocked shots to the cause as well.
The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, Dec. 19 at 5:30 p.m., traveling to USC Aiken.
