Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Women's Basketball team (10-5, 7-2 PBC) used an impressive defensive effort to get into double-digit victories on the season, topping USC Aiken (3-12, 0-9 PBC) 69-45 Monday in the Centennial Center.
The Bobcats held the Pacers to just 45 points, the third time this season Georgia College has held its opponent to 45 points or less. USCA shot just 28 percent (15-54) from the floor and 19 percent (5-26) from long range. Georgia College allowed just one double-digit scorer, as reserve Emily Waters got her 10th and final point with 2:29 left in the game.
Georgia College was led by 15 points from senior Alyah McGriff (Suwanee) as the forward went 7-for-8 from the field. Classmate Ta'Asia Wright (Denmark, South Carolina) added 11 points, and freshman Delayne Rotolo (Peachtree City) chipped in nine in just seven minutes of action.
The Bobcats hit 10 three-pointers, the first time GC Women's Hoops has hit double-digits from long range this season. The last time the Bobcat Women hit that many threes was Jan. 21, 2017 in a 70-62 win over the University of Montevallo.
Georgia College out-scored the Pacers 41-25 in the second half. The Bobcats made the first points of the game, a three-pointer from Sydney Cleveland (Gainesville) at the 8:22 mark in the first quarter, and never trailed. Cleveland finished with eight points.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 5:30 p.m., traveling to Columbus State University.
