Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Women's Basketball team (11-7, 8-4 PBC) extended its home win streak to four straight in a 76-64 win over Young Harris College (7-12, 4-8 PBC) Wednesday night at the Centennial Center.
Up 33-31 at the break, the Bobcats came out of the half in a big way, taking the third quarter 24-10. Six different players scored in the quarter for Georgia College, led by seven points from junior Sydney Cleveland (Gainesville). YHC got back in it by taking the fourth quarter 23-19, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Bobcats.
Cleveland finished with a team-high 19 points, including 4-for-7 from long range. She added nine rebounds, three assists and three steals to the cause. Senior Ta'Asia Wright (Denmark, South Carolina) came off the bench for a big 18-point, 12-rebound double-double, missing just one of her nine attempts from the field. It was Wright's sixth double-double this season.
Junior Shay Tarver (Covington) had 11 points as a reserve, and freshman Kenyatta Storms (Alpharetta) rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points, her first double-digit scoring game of the year.
Georgia College out-shot the Mountain Lions 44 percent (28-64) to 35 percent (21-60) from the field and had a slight rebounding advantage of 45-41. Young Harris was led by reserve Ge'Naisha Robinson at a game-high 21 points.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Jan. 27 at 1:30 p.m., playing host to Francis Marion University.
