ALBANY, Ga. – The Georgia College Women's Basketball team (1-4) won its first game of the young 2018-19 season Tuesday, closing out Albany State University (0-6) 62-51 on the road.

Senior Sydney Cleveland (Gainesville) dropped 15 points, including three long-range bombs, her fourth double-digit scoring game in five tries this season.

She led a trio in double-digit scoring, with sophomore Keyonna Wesley (Pearson) scoring 11 on 4-for-6 from the floor. Senior Jasmine McSwain (Marietta) added 10 to the cause, her third-straight game with 10-plus points.

The Bobcat defense was stifling, allowing just 29 percent shooting (15-52) from the floor for the Rams. Georgia College did most of its damage from the free-throw line, hitting 80 percent in making 20-of-25 attempts. The Bobcats also hit eight from long range, and never trailed after the first three minutes of the first quarter.

Senior Erin Drynan (Chicago, Illinois) blocked two shots in the contest, giving her 95 in her career, passing both Dalana Watson (99-03) and Ashley Williams (04-08) for fourth in school history.

GC Women's Basketball is back in action Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 5:30 p.m., traveling to USC Aiken to start Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play.
