Box Score 2 REIDVILLE, S.C. – Closing the two days on the best possible note, the Georgia College Softball team (8-6) swept their final two games at the Mid-South Classic Sunday, dropping the University of Mount Olive (5-11) 5-3 and finishing with a 3-2 win over Limestone College (10-5).
The Bobcats jumped out early against Mount Olive, plating four in the first and riding that for the win. Freshman Haley Howell (Rochelle, Georgia) drove in a pair in the first with a single, Baylee Hall (Hephzibah, Georgia) and Sutton Long (Milledgeville, Georgia) each added sacrifice flies in the inning.
Junior Kayla Price (Indian Land) got the win in 3 2/3 innings, allowing two earned runs. Freshman Rebecca Lawrence (Vidalia, Georgia) threw the final 3 1/3 scoreless for her second save.
Game two was an even tighter contest, a come-from-behind effort won on a wild pitch.
Junior Becca Meade (Winder, Georgia) went the distance in the win, allowing a pair of runs on four hits and a single walk. Meade (4-1) fanned eight, overcoming a tough start, allowing a two-run home run in the top of the first. She settled in from there, putting the Saints down in order in four separate innings, including retiring the last 11 batters she faced.
Down a pair after the top of the first, an Amber Coy (Warner Robins, Georgia) double cut the Limestone lead in half in the third. In the fifth, Holland Coursey (Sugar Hill, Georgia) singled down the leftfield and Hall scored on an outfield error. After a single and another error loaded the bases, a wild pitch allowed Coursey to score the go-ahead run.
Hall finished game two 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored, and centerfielder Caroline Snider (Tennille, Georgia) joined her with two hits.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, April 28 at 4 p.m., playing host to Albany State University at the Peeler Complex.
