GREENWOOD, S.C. – The Georgia College Women's Basketball team (5-14, 2-9 PBC) ran into a buzzsaw in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) leader Lander University (16-3, 11-0 PBC), dropping an 86-46 contest Wednesday on the road.
The Bearcats remained undefeated in PBC play, taking all four quarters in the bout. The best period for GC was the final one, as Lander took the fourth quarter 22-16.
Junior DeLayne Rotolo (Peachtree City, Georgia) netted a career-best 14 points, hitting 5-for-7 overall and 4-for-5 from long range. She also yanked down four rebounds. Rotolo had nearly as many points – 14 – as minutes played in the contest – 15.
Freshman Sarah Plemons (Chatsworth, Georgia) tallied her first double-digit rebounding day, pulling in 11 boards, including five on the offensive glass. She added five points as well.
The Bobcats had trouble finding the mark, hitting just 28 percent (16-58) from the field, compared to 56 percent (35-63) from the home squad.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Feb. 1 at 1:30 p.m. traveling to Flagler College (4-13, 2-9 PBC). The two teams met earlier this season at Georgia College, a 56-46 Bobcat win
