Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Women's Basketball team (5-21, 2-16 PBC) took the fight to the No. 13 University of North Georgia (23-3, 16-2 PBC) squad Saturday, the Bobcats dropping their Homecoming game 59-43.
The Bobcats took on a ranked opponent for the third time this season, this being the closest result.
Junior Keyonna Wesley (Pearson) led all scorers with 13 points, shooting just 5-for-12 from the field, but hitting at a better 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. She was flanked by 11 points from sophomore Harper Vick (Marietta).
UNG never trailed in the contest, getting a steal and a layup on the game's first possession. The Nighthawks jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Wesley put in a three for GC's first points.
The Bobcats' best quarter was the fourth, actually taking that frame by a 14-12 score. Freshman Jaycie Bowen (Homer) had all of her four points in the final quarter, leading the team.
GC Women's Hoops was out-shot 45 percent to 29 percent from the field, dropping the rebounding battle by a slim 34-30 margin.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 26 at 5:30 p.m., playing host to No. 23 Lander University for Senior Day at the Centennial Center. It will be the final home game for the team's leading rebounder in Dail Adaway (Tifton).
