COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Georgia College Women's Basketball team (5-16, 2-11 PBC) had a fourth-quarter surge Wednesday at Columbus State University (15-4, 10-3 PBC) but it wasn't enough, falling to the Cougars 66-57.

The Bobcats dug a hole for the first three quarters, but took the fourth frame 19-13. The Bobcats had it down to a two-possession game at 55-51 with 5:43 remaining after Keyonna Wesley (Pearson) hit a three. CSU called timeout, and that slowed the momentum, keeping the Bobcats from inching any closer.

Wesley led GC with 14 points, filling the Boxscore with four rebounds, three assists, three steals and a block. She was joined in double-digit scoring by sophomore Harper Vick's (Marietta) 13 points and six rebounds.

CSU started the game on an 11-5 run and never trailed.

The Bobcats were out-shot 37 percent to 31 percent from the floor, and out-rebounded 53-43. Georgia College kept it close with a 16-12 advantage in second-chance points, and by hitting eight three-pointers.

The loss puts GC at 2-11 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, tied for 11th in the league standings. The Bobcats are three games out of the playoffs with seven league games left on the schedule.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Feb. 8 at 1:30 p.m., playing host to Clayton State University. GC lost to the Lakers 67-42 on the road earlier this season.
