Bobcat Women's Hoops Drops 66-54 Game with Clayton State

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Women's Basketball team (5-17, 2-12 PBC) showed plenty of fight in a 66-54 loss to Clayton State University (13-9, 9-5 PBC) Saturday at the Centennial Center.

Down as much as 18 points, GC brought it within a two-possession game on a few occasions in the fourth quarter, including as late as the 4:19 mark. Junior Kenyatta Storms (Alpharetta) found sophomore sharpshooter Harper Vick (Marietta) for a three-pointer at that point, cutting the Laker lead to 59-53.

Vick led all scorers with 26 points, her fourth 20-point game of the season and second in her last three. She shot 8-for-14 from the floor, including 3-for-7 from long range. She also made 7-of-12 from the free-throw line and pulled in four rebounds. Storms helped with nine points, adding five boards and three assists.

The loss puts Georgia College at 2-12 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, tied for 11th in the league standings. The top eight squads advance to the PBC Tournament March 4. GC is four games out of the eighth slot, with six contests left on the schedule.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 5:30 p.m., traveling to Young Harris College (12-9, 6-7 PBC). The Mountain Lions will host Francis Marion University tomorrow, Feb. 9 before the Bobcats come to town.
