MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Women's Basketball team (1-2, 1-2 PBC) had a tall order Saturday, falling to defending Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Champion No. 17 Lander University (6-0, 4-0 PBC) 72-44 at the Centennial Center.
Sophomore Jaycie Bowen (Homer) led the Bobcats with 10 points, her first double-digit performance of the year and third in her career. She knocked down a couple of threes and brought down five rebounds. Classmate Caroline Wysocki (Flowery Branch) chipped in with three from long range for nine points.
The Bearcats were every bit as advertised, winning all four quarters from GC and holding the Bobcat offense in check. Lander took nearly every category, including a sizeable 38-8 advantage in points in the paint. The Bobcat reserves were active, besting Lander's 16-7, led by five each from Sadie Cleveland (Gainesville) and Alexis Figures (Buford).
The Bobcats are back in action Monday, Jan. 18 at 1 p.m. playing host to Young Harris College. There will be no spectators allowed for Monday's contest, fans can follow live video and stats at GCBobcats.com.
