Box Score GREENVILLE, Tenn. - The Georgia College Soccer Team (7-3) edged Tusculum University (2-8) in a non-conference road match up Wednesday, 3-2.
The Tusculum offense struck early, knocking in its first goal of the match within the first eight minutes. The Tusculum goals were broken up by a single Bobcat goal to tie the game at 1-1. The next goal for the Pioneers came in the second half on a free kick in the 55th minute to make the score 2-1.
The Bobcats were quiet in the first half going into halftime trailing 1-0.
The second half was a different story for the GC offense as all three goals were scored in this half. Brooke Adams (Kennesaw, Georgia) drove in the first score on a penalty kick for her first goal of the season in the 48th minute of the match. She finessed the goalkeeper striking it in on the left side.
The second goal was off the foot of super senior Cassie Balzano (Douglasville, Georgia). The Bobcats were down 2-1 in the 56th minute of the match before Balzano secured the goal at the eight-yard mark to even the score. This was the eighth goal of the season and number 32 on Balzano's career.
The game-winning goal came from redshirt junior Alexis Bergamini (West Suffield, Connecticut) in the 64th minute. Bergamini got the ball on the right side of the field from super senior Becca Morris (Marietta, Georgia) to rifle one into the back of the net.
The Bobcat defense held the Pioneers to 10 shots, six of which were on goal. Goalkeeper Kate Richardson (Marietta, Georgia) had four saves in the match, picking up the win for GC.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Oct. 6 on the road at USC Aiken. Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. with the live stats and video available at GCBobcats.com.
