Box Score AUGUSTA, Ga.- The Georgia College Women's Basketball Team (0-1) fell 81-49 to Barton College (1-0) in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC)/Conference Carolinas Crossover Tournament Friday night at Augusta University.
Barton got the win over GC as they controlled the scoreboard for three of the four quarters. The Bobcats had two double digit quarters including a 19-17 third quarter win.
Freshman Ashyia Willis (Gainesville) led the offense putting up 13 points on the night. Willis made her presence known under the basket as she recorded a team high of seven rebounds as well.
The veteran guard Harper Vick (Marietta) was the only other player in the blue and green to net double-digit points. Vick had 11 points, seven of which came from the free-throw line where she shot for 70 percent.
Another newcomer for GC in Cierra Foster (Canton) made an impact in tonight's game as she had the second-most rebounds with five. Foster also netted nine points and earned her spot as the Bobcats third-leading scorer.
Barton jumped out to a 12-2 lead to start and never trailed. The Bulldogs caused 34 Bobcat turnovers, resulting in a 34-11 edge in points-off-takeaways. The Bobcats did get the advantage in bench points, 20-15, thanks in large part to Foster's nine off the pine.
GC will be back in action tomorrow, Nov. 13 at Augusta University for game two of the PBC/ Conference Carolinas Crossover Tournament. Tip Off is set for 1 p.m. against Southern Wesleyan University. Live stats and video links will be available at GCBobcats.com.
