MORROW, Ga. – The Georgia College Men's Basketball team (2-1) suffered its first loss of the young season Friday, dropping a 90-77 bout to a hot-shooting Tuskegee University (2-2) in day one of the Clayton State Classic.

The Bobcats never led, as the Tigers jumped out to a 14-0 run to start. GC trailed 47-29 at the half. The Bobcats won the second half 48-43, but it wasn't enough to claw back in it.

The Tigers shot a blistering 61 percent from the field (34-56) and hit 10-of-19 (.526) from long range as well. Georgia College tried to combat the hot shooting with a long-range attack, knocking down 16 threes of their own.

Freshman Zyair Greene (Lithonia) did his best to keep GC close by scoring 23 points, including seven threes. Classmate Jamal Taylor (Sparta) added 14 points, hitting all six of his free-throw shots. The freshmen duo tallied 37 of the team's 77 points, or 48 percent.

Senior Jordan Thomas (Conyers) scored 18, adding five assists. He's scored in double digits in all three games this year.

Tonight's game was the first between the two squads since 2016, and the first win in the series for Tuskegee. The Bobcats had a 4-0 record against the Tigers coming into tonight.

Thomas picked up one steal tonight, giving the senior 132 in his career, tying Tim Jones (1997) for seventh in school history.

The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, Nov. 20 at 2 p.m., finishing the Clayton State Classic against Clark Atlanta University.
