Upset Bid for GC Women's Basketball falls Short at #4 North Georgia, 69-56

DAHLONEGA, Ga.- The Georgia College Women's Basketball Team (3-6, 0-1 PBC) couldn't hold on to a first-half lead in their upset bid Saturday at No. 4 University of North Georgia (7-1, 1-0 PBC), falling 69-56 in the start of Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play.

GC dominated the first half, out-scoring North Georgia 34-23. UNG came out of halftime hot, netting 27 points to the Bobcats 10 in the third quarter. North Georgia continued to push away from GC, winning the final quarter 19-12 as well. 

The leading scorer for the Bobcats was rookie guard Ashyia Willis (Gainesville) banking 20 points for a career high. Willis had a balanced 10 points in each half, adding three rebounds. 

The second-leading scorer was junior Harper Vick (Marietta) with 10 points. Vick went 3-for-4 from the stripe.

The leading rebounder for GC was classmate Anaya Cone (Douglasville) with six. Cone picked up three rebounds from each side of the court. 

GC Women's Hoops is now 1-1 against nationally-ranked opponents this season after beating then-No. 15 Valdosta State University Nov. 20.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Dec. 15 for the PBC home opener against Young Harris College. Tip off is set for 1 p.m. in the Centennial Center with live stats and broadcast links available at GCBobcats.com
