ROME, Ga. – The Georgia College Women's Basketball team (4-7) fell at Shorter University (2-6) in non-conference action Friday afternoon. The Hawks ran away from the Bobcats with a big second quarter.

Shorter took a slim three-point lead after the first frame, then extended it with a massive 26-12 second quarter. The Bobcats tried to battle back in the second half, actually winning the third, but couldn't overcome the halftime gap.

Freshman Ashyia Willis (Gainesville) was a big bright spot, tallying a career-high 27 points, her second career 20-point game. She went 9-for-15 from the floor and 8-for-12 from the charity stripe.  

Classmate Cierra Foster (Canton) came off the bench for a 10-point effort, adding three assists and a pair of steals.

GC was out-shot 39% to 49% from the field, as the Hawks also made good from long range, hitting half of their 22 attempts. The Bobcats won the rebound battle 37-30, led by 10 from junior Anaya Cone (Douglasville).

The Bobcats are back to action Wednesday, Jan. 5 at 5:30 p.m., traveling to Augusta University.
