Box Score MORROW, Ga.- Despite a staggering 34 points from the junior Harper Vick (Marietta) Georgia College Women's Hoops (1-7, 1-7 PBC) came up short at Clayton State University (6-2, 6-2 PBC) Wednesday.
Throughout the game Vick dominated the offensive side of the ball, improving as the game progressed. In the first half she swished 13 points and the second half 21. The Marietta native drew a total of seven fouls on the night allowing her to shoot 14 free throws and sink them all. The last Bobcat to have a better performance in conference play was Dominque Huffin against Lander on Jan. 1, 2008 scoring a total of 41 points.
The Bobcats went into the second half of their away contest down 19 points to the Lakers but had an impressive second half offensively. As the game resumed in the third quarter the Bobcats outscored Clayton State 19-11 bring the game within 11. The fourth quarter was the highest scoring frame of the game, GC winning the fourth 23-22.
Today's conference contest yielded two double-digit scorers for the Bobcats in Vick and senior Keyonna Wesley (Pearson). Wesley put up an impressive 12 points nine of which came from behind the three-point line. Vick beat her career high of 29 points set Jan. 25, 2020 against Augusta University by scoring 34. Fourteen of those points came from the free throw line as made each of her 14 shots.
Senior Christen Copeland (Gainesville) was a box score filler making an impact all over the court with three steals, three assists, six rebounds and five points to top it all off. The Bobcats led the Lakers in defensive rebounds 28-24.
Georgia College Women's Basketball is back in action Saturday Feb. 6 at Flagler College. The Saints' attendance policy limits 50 fans per contest in their gymnasium.
