MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Men's Tennis team (2-6, 0-4 PBC) lost to No. 1 Columbus State University (14-0, 5-0 PBC) 7-0 Tuesday at the Centennial Center Tennis Facility.
Doubles produced a CSU sweep. Matt Rogel (Sautron, France) and Enzo Sergi (Nice, France) put up the toughest fight, losing 7-5 to Alvaro Regalado and Javier Cueto Ramos. In second doubles, Cole Heller (Woodstock) teamed with Jack Sorel (Alpharetta) for a 6-2 defeat by Christian Garay and Felix Steen. Third doubles was another 6-2 loss for GC, as Jesus Villamizar Abia (Venezuela) and Jorge Robinson (Entre Rios, Argentina) lost to Tommaso Schold and Pietro Martinetti.
In singles play Robinson produced the closest bout in the second slot, nearly forcing a third set with Garay 6-2, 7-5. Rogel took the fight to No. 2 Regalado in a 6-3, 6-4 loss in first singles. Third singles was a 6-1, 6-2 loss for Sergi by Schold.
In the fourth line, Villamizar Abia lost to Cueto Ramos by 6-1 and 6-2 sets. Sebastian Nunez (Buford) came up short in fifth singles to Steen 6-4, 6-1 and Heller lost a 6-0, 6-3 matchup in the sixth slot to Jorge Jimenez Acosta.
The Bobcats are back in action Friday, April 9 at 1:30 p.m., traveling to No. 6 Lander University.
