MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Georgia College Women's Basketball Team (5-10, 2-4 PBC) dropped a home contest to Peach Belt Conference (PBC) leader and national No. 11 University of North Georgia (12-1, 6-0 PBC) 58-38 Saturday afternoon at the Centennial Center.
The first quarter was a slow start for the Bobcats as they only made seven points. Cassidy Markle (Cumming) led the offense with three. Bobcats picked up the pace in the second quarter netting 11 points with Harper Vick (Marietta) scoring five. GC went into the half trailing by 14 at 32-18.
The Bobcats were on fire in the third quarter coming out of the half out-scoring UNG 16-14. Ashyia Willis (Gainesville) was hot, scoring 11 of the 16 points including a three point bucket. As the game came to a close GC was held to four points in the fourth quarter. Savannah Casey (Canton) scored three of those four points hitting net once from behind the arc.
After her hot third quarter Willis led the offense, netting 13 points in the conference contest. She shot for 50% behind the three-point line and added five assists to her boxscore. The second leading scorer was Vick as she had seven points and nabbed five rebounds.
Jada Warren (Norcross) led the squad in rebounds once again with eight; six coming from under the Nighthawk basket. Warren added six points and a blocked shot to her impressive performance tonight.
