Bobcat Women Take Road Loss at Young Harris, 63-47

YOUNG HARRIS, Ga.- The Georgia College Women's Basketball Team (5-11, 2-5 PBC) lost the second match up of the season with Young Harris College (11-5, 3-4 PBC) Wednesday night, 63-47. The loss brings the season series to a split. 

The Bobcats started the game scoring 14 points but it wasn't enough to out score the Mountain Lions as they knocked in 20. GC came away with 10 rebounds compared to Young Harris' eight.  Come the second quarter the Bobcats held YHC to 16 points but the offense was only able to knock in 11. GC managed to top the Mountain Lions in three point and field goal percentage in the second quarter. Bobcats entered the half trailing 36-25. 

To close out the game GC out-scored YHC 12-10 in the fourth quarter but still suffered the tough road loss. The Bobcats were able to capitalize on the fouls and made four free throws. GC was also more aggressive on defense, recording three steals to close out the game. 

Freshman guard Ashiya Wills (Gainesville) led the offense, netting 13 points including six field goals. Willis shot 100% from the free-throw stripe while adding five assists, five rebounds and four steals to her boxscore. Harper Vick (Marietta) had 10 points on the night. Adding three rebounds and an assist in the contest. 

Alexa Geary (Calhoun) patrolled under the baskets nabbing seven rebounds with five coming under the Young Harris hoop. Cassidy Markle (Cumming) and Willis both had five rebounds apiece. Markle made all her snags under the defensive basket and Willis corralled four of hers as a defender. 

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Jan. 22 in the Centennial Center to take on conference foe Clayton State University. Tipoff is set for 1:30 p.m. with live stats and video streams available at GCBobcats.com.
