COLUMBUS, Ga. – Despite a trio of double-digit scorers, the Georgia College Women's Basketball team (5-14, 2-8 PBC) lost an 83-58 battle at Columbus State University (11-9, 4-6 PBC) Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats got 11 points each from junior Cassidy Markle (Cumming) and freshman Ashyia Willis (Gainesville), as well as a 10-point game from Harper Vick (Marietta).

Vick shot 6-of-7 from the free-throw line and added a team-high five assists. Willis had seven rebounds and four helps, while Markle pulled in seven rebounds as well.

The Bobcats never led in the contest, but Markle cut the lead to two at the end of the first quarter with a three-point bucket before the horn. It was a slow start to the second frame that put the Bobcats in a hole from which they couldn't dig out. CSU started the second quarter on an 11-0 run, broken up by a pair of Vick free throws at the 3:40 mark.

The GC Women were out-shot 36% to 42% from the floor. The Bobcats won the rebounding battle by the slimmest of margins (44-43), also taking a 12-6 lead in second-chance points.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 2 at 5:30 p.m., playing host to Flagler College.
