MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Surviving a three-point barrage defensively, the Georgia College & State University Women's Basketball team (3-0) stayed perfect on the new season by beating Limestone University (2-1) 72-68 in overtime at the Centennial Center Wednesday.

The Saints hit 14 threes for the game, shooting 45 percent from behind the arc. The Bobcats trailed 19-11 at the end of the first quarter, at one point using a 10-0 run to get back into things. Eventually GCSU took a lead at 23-22 with 4:02 left in the second quarter.

The two teams remained close, with Limestone hitting a layup with just under a minute left in regulation to force overtime. In the extra frame, the Bobcats tightened up defensively, allowing just 2-for-7 from the field, and only one three-pointer.

Junior guard Myra Strickland (Duluth) had 14 points and has scored in double digits for all three games as a Bobcat. Graduate student Dashaun Jackson (Miramar, Florida) tallied a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double, the first for GCSU this season.

Defending Bobcat Athlete of the Week Harper Vick (Marietta) added 12 points with eight boards, including five on the offensive glass. Sophomores Alexa Geary (Calhoun) and Ashyia Willis (Gainesville) added 10 points each, with Willis recording a team-high six assists. Vick, Willis, Geary and Strickland each have double-digit scoring efforts in all of the three games this season.

The Bobcats dominated the glass with 64 rebounds to just 36 for the Saints. Leaders were Jackson's 11, and nine off the bench from sophomore Rose Bone (Monroe).

GCSU Women's Hoops is now 2-0 in the last two seasons in overtime contests, having last beaten Augusta University Jan. 5, 2022. The Bobcats are 2-1 in overtime games under head coach Ross Jolly.

GCSU moves to 3-0 for the first time since 2016-17. That year, the Bobcats had a 4-0 start to the season. The win also evens out the all-time series between the Bobcats and Bulldogs at 2-2.

The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, Nov. 19 at 4 p.m., hitting the road for the first time, taking on Emmanuel College.
