MORROW, Ga.- Georgia College & State University Men's Basketball (3-2) took a tough 81-67 loss to Newberry College (3-2), Saturday despite having the lead going into halftime.
In the tough loss the Bobcats had two double-digit scorers who both put up 13 points with two shooters knocking at the door with nine. Christian Koneman (Chatsworth) and Chapin Rierson (Calhoun) were the two big shooters netting 13 apiece. Rierson shot for 100% from the free throw stripe and 50% from the arc. Brandon Thomas (McDonough) and Chris Parks (Buford) both had nine points apiece to round out the offense. Thomas also shot for 50% from the arc and Parks went 5-for-6 from the free throw line.
The leading rebounders for the Bobcats both nabbed six in the contest with eight of the 12 coming under the Wolves' basket. Brendan Rigsbee (Suwanee) corralled four of his six rebounds under the Bobcat basket as he picked up his second start of the season. Rigsbee also contributed to the offensive side of things netting seven points. Thomas nabbed all six of his rebounds under the NC basket.
The Bobcats continue their lengthy road schedule at Lincoln Memorial University on Wednesday, Nov. 23. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m. with live stats and broadcast links available at GCBobcats.com.
