ALBANY, Ga.- Georgia College and State University Women's Basketball (7-1) completed the fourth-quarter comeback taking the 64-58 win over Albany State University (3-4), Wednesday night.
The Bobcats trailed at the end of the first three quarters and went into the fourth trailing 43-42. The shooters got hot in the fourth quarter outscoring the Golden Rams 22-15 to solidify the win. Jada Warren (Norcross) made a jumper to snag the lead for GCSU and they never gave up the lead. In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats shot for a game-high of 64.3% from field goal range and 100% from the free throw line to lead the blue and green to victory.
The blue and green had the hot arms with three players netting double-digits. Myra Strickland (Duluth) tied her career high of 16 points to lead the offense. Strickland went 3-for-4 from both behind the three-point arc and from the free throw stripe. Harper Vick (Marietta) and Alexa Geary (Calhoun) rounded out the double-digit scoring banking 13 points apiece. Vick and Geary both netted a basket from the arc and four from the free-throw stripe.
Vick showed her defensive prowess as she corralled seven rebounds on the night with five coming under the ASU basket. Vick continued to play superb defense with a team-high of two blocked shots. Dashaun Jackson (Miramar, Florida) was the second-leading rebounder with six with four coming under the Bobcat basket. Jackson also went 3-for-4 from field goal range adding six points to her box score.
