MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College & State University Women's Basketball team (9-3) led for the final 36 minutes of the game Thursday, topping Auburn University at Montgomery (4-9) 64-49 at the Centennial Center.

The Bobcats had a balanced attack, with 10 different players scoring points. GCSU also won the battle of the boards, out-rebounding the Warhawks 51-41.

Sophomore guard Ashyia Willis (Gainesville) led with 16 points, a season-high and her eighth double-digit scoring game this season. Junior Myra Strickland (Duluth) added 13 points, leading the bench to out-score AUM's reserves 27-4.

The rebounding effort was again indicative in a win for GCSU, as the Bobcats have not been out-rebounded in a single one of their nine wins. Sophomore Jada Warren (Norcross) cleaned the glass with a game-high 12 rebounds, flanked by nine from senior Cassidy Markle (Cumming) and seven from sophomore Alexa Geary (Calhoun).

The win gives the Bobcats a 2-1 advantage in the all-time series with AUM. GCSU finishes non-conference play with an 8-2 mark in non-league games. The ninth win is already a season-best for Bobcat head coach Ross Jolly, with 16 games left in the regular season.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Jan. 4 at 5:30 p.m., playing host to Augusta University.
