MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College Women's Basketball team (7-14, 4-8 PBC) won its second straight and swept the season series with Augusta University (11-9, 4-7 PBC) by taking Saturday's matchup 73-66 at the Centennial Center.
The 73 points was a season-high, edging the previous mark of 72 in the win over Young Harris College Dec. 15.
The Bobcats had a balanced attack with four double-digit scorers, led by junior Harper Vick (Marietta), netting 25 points on 7-for-18 from the floor and 10-for-16 at the charity stripe. Vick was a boxscore-filler, pulling in seven boards and posting four assists.
Freshman Alexa Geary (Calhoun) knocked down four threes en route to 17 points, her career high. She also came one rebound shy of a double-double with nine. Classmate Ashyia Willis (Gainesville) had 14 points, eight rebounds and a game-high five assists, while Anaya Cone (Douglasville) netted 11 on the day.
The Bobcats led for the final 27 minutes of the contest. Augusta cut the lead to a single possession for the final time at 56-53 with 6:35 left, but Vick responded with a three-pointer to spark GC, keeping the Jaguars at arm's length the rest of the way.
The win puts the Bobcats at 4-8 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, positioned eighth in the league standings. The top eight qualify for the PBC Tournament in March.
The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 9 at 5:30 p.m., traveling to USC Aiken.
