COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Georgia College Men's Tennis team (5-5) took on its fourth nationally-ranked opponent this season, falling 4-0 to No. 10 Southern Arkansas University (11-3) at Columbus State University.
The Muleriders picked up wins in first and second doubles to start with a 1-0 lead. In the second slot, Karol Malirz (Marbella, Spain) and Jorge Robinson (Entre Rios, Argentina) teamed for a 6-2 loss to the nation's No. 40 pairing in Marko Nikoliuk and Ole Valkyser. In first doubles, Sebastian Nunez (Buford) and Enzo Sergi (Nice, France) lost to Matthew Tennant and Gabriel Breitenmoser 6-4.
SAU picked up singles wins in slots two, three and six to clinch the team victory.
In second singles, Gabriel Cizek (Dolní Břežany, Czech Republic) dropped a hard-fought 6-2, 7-5 bout with national No. 10 Nikoliuk. The third slot saw Masumi Komada (Aichi, Japan) fall to Valkyser 6-2, 6-4. Sixth singles was a loss for Ben Grunert (Roswell) to Breitenmoser in a pair of 6-3 sets.
The Bobcats are back in action Saturday, March 26 at 1 p.m., traveling back to Columbus to take on the No. 3 Cougars.
