MORROW, Ga.- Georgia College & State University Women's Basketball (11-7, 3-5 PBC) took the last-second 60-58 victory over Clayton State University (8-9, 3-5 PBC)), Saturday afternoon. This is the first win for the Bobcats over the Lakers since the 2017-18 season.

Both the Lakers and the Bobcats started the game hot, netting 15 and 14 points respectively. CSU applied more pressure to the GCSU offense, limiting them to eight points. Georgia College entered the half trailing 31-22.

With a steep hill to climb the Bobcats got to work in the third quarter. GCSU made the necessary adjustments coming out of the half and banked 18 points compared to the nine points netted by the Lakers. Going into the fourth quarter CSU and GCSU were all tied up at 40.

The contest ended in nail-biter fashion as the contest came down to the final seconds. With just under three minutes to go in the final quarter, the Lakers led the Bobcats 56-45. GCSU made two back-to-back layups and a three-point bucket to bring the contest to 56-52. Alexa Geary (Calhoun) went for the three-point bucket and was fouled to bring her to the free-throw line for three attempts. She banked them all to tie the contest at 56 apiece. CSU countered with a field goal and the Bobcats matched it as the contest was now tied at 58. A shooting foul brought a Laker to the free throw line and she went 0-for-2 for a defensive rebound by Rose Bone (Monroe). The Bobcats called a timeout to bring the ball to the offensive side of the court. Myra Strickland (Duluth) gets the ball to Ashyia Willis (Gainesville) for the game-winning layup.

Harper Vick (Marietta) and Geary led the scoring effort as Georgia College's only double-digit scorers with 10 points apiece. Vick did most of her damage from the free-throw line going 6-for-8. Geary came in off the bench to bank her 10 points as she went 3-for-9 from field goal range and 3-for-3 from the stripe. Strickland was the third-leading scorer with eight points.

The big post Jada Warren (Norcross) led the rebounding effort corralling nine rebounds with five coming under the Lacker basket. Vick was the second leading rebounder nabbing eight with four coming under each side of the ball. Bone had seven rebounds as the team's third-leading rebounder.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Jan. 25 in the Centennial Center for Faculty Appreciation Night. Tip-off is set for 5:00 p.m. with live stats and broadcast links available at GCBobcats.com
