GCSU Women's Hoops Drops Homecoming Game with Clayton State, 69-58

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College & State University Women's Basketball team (14-12, 6-10 PBC) lost to Clayton State University (15-10, 10-6 PBC) 69-58 Saturday in the Centennial Center for the Bobcats' annual Homecoming game.

The game was tight throughout, with 12 ties and 12 lead changes. A two-possession game with the Lakers leading at 51-45 with 7:44 left, the Bobcats couldn't string much together from that point. Clayton closed strong, out-scoring GCSU 10-6 over the final three minutes to pull out of reach.

Sophomore Alexa Geary (Calhoun) matched the game-high with 20 points. She made five threes, ad hit 3-of-4 from the free-throw line. She also pulled in four boards. Junior Myra Strickland (Duluth) added 16 points, going 5-of-7 from the stripe herself. Sophomore Ashyia Willis (Gainesville) had nine points, four assists and three rebounds.

The loss puts the Bobcats at 6-10 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play. The PBC Tournament begins March 1.

The Bobcats are back in action Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 5:30 p.m., playing host to Flagler College for GCSU's Senior Day.
