Box Score

COLUMBUS, Ga. – The Georgia College & State University Women's Basketball team (15-13, 7-11 PBC) wrapped up the regular season Saturday with a hard-fought loss at Columbus State University (15-11, 9-9 PBC), 82-78.

The Cougars spoiled a Bobcat career-high for junior Myra Strickland (Norcross). She knocked down five threes and went a blistering 8-for-12 overall, finishing with 25 points. Strickland also added eight rebounds.

Sophomore Jada Warren (Duluth) posted her first career double-double, pouring in a career-high 16 points to go with 13 rebounds. Senior Harper Vick (Marietta) rounded out the double-digit scorers with 10 points, six rebounds and five assists.

The two teams traded scoring opportunities for much of the first quarter, with CSU knocking down a three in the waning seconds for a 17-14 advantage at the first break. From there, they continued to keep the Bobcats at arms length. The Cougars made five of their final six free-throw attempts to keep the lead out of reach.

The Cougars did most of their damage in causing havoc with fast breaks and turnovers. CSU led 21-2 in points off turnovers and 25-4 in fast-break points. The Bobcats kept it close by dominating the glass 54-31, and turning that into a 21-7 lead in second-chance points.

The loss puts the Bobcats at a final mark of 7-11 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play. They have clinched the No. 8-seed for the upcoming conference tournament, and will take on Regular-Season Champion Georgia Southwestern State University in the opening round Wednesday, March 1.
