LEXINGTON, KY.- The United States Marine Corps and the American Volleyball Coaches Association announced the 2023 Team Academic Award which included the Georgia College & State University squad.

Bobcat Volleyball earned the fourth AVCA Academic Team Award in the program's history all coming under former head woman
Gretchen Krumdieck. As a squad, GCSU Volleyball put together a 3.37 GPA for the 2022-23 academic and athletic year.Â
Senior setter
Emily Long (Mooresville, N.C.) led the team with a 4.0 GPA in her final year as an exercise science major.
Callie Miller (Acworth, Ga.) and
Rachel Machovec (Buckhead, Ga.) both earned a 3.8 GPA in chemistry and a masters in secondary education, respectively.Â
This marks an all-time record number of programs honored for their academic achievements. The award, initiated in the 1992–93 academic year, honors volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point average of 3.3 on a 4.0 scaleÂ
Owning the top Academic Success Rate among public schools in Division II in back to back academic years, the Georgia College Department of Athletics sponsors 11 varsity athletic programs at the NCAA Division II level.
