Warren, GCSU rebounds with 76-40 win over North Greenville

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. | Jada Warren set a new career high in total rebounds with 23 as  Georgia College & State University defeated the North Greenville University 76-40 in a non-conference women's basketball game Saturday (Nov. 23) afternoon inside the Centennial Center.

The Bobcats bounced back with the victory and improved to a record of 5-1, while the Trailblazers fell to 0-6. GCSU concludes the homestand Tuesday (Nov. 26), when they host Fort Valley State University at 5:30 p.m.

Georgia College jumped out to a 9-0 lead before North Greenville scored its first point and never looked back, not once giving up the lead throughout the game. The Bobcats doubled the Trailblazers score after the first quarter 12-6, holding NGU just 2-of 15 field goal attempts (13.3 percent).

GCSU led 34-19 at the half and broke the game open in the third quarter as the Bobcats outscored the Trailblazers 26-8 to open up a 60-27 advantage. The final score was the largest margin by the Bobcats.

Warren collected 16 defensive and seven offensive to set a new personal best rebound record by six, beating her previous record of 17, which she set against Columbus State University last season. The 23 rebounds are also a NCAA-era record for the Bobcats.

Ashyia Willis led the Bobcats in scoring, with 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting, while Miracle Parker was close behind with 11 points. Hannah Cail and Evie DePetro each tossed in eight points as 11 different players found the scoring column.

GCSU outrebounded North Greenville 64-30 in the game. The 64 boards by the Bobcats were two off the school record set back in 1995. Rose Bone grabbed nine rebounds, while Natalia Bolden tallied seven.
