INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. | Georgia College & State University is one of 10 teams in the 10 teams in the Southeast region under consideration for the 2026 NCAA Division II Softball Tournament.
There will be two more published regional rankings before the final selection by the NCAA for regional play May 11. Eight teams will be selected in the Southeast region for the national tournament. In the Southeast region, the winners from the Peach Belt, South Atlantic Conference and Conference Carolinas tournaments earn automatic berths while the other five will be at-large selections based on the regional rankings.
GCSU is currently 25-16 overall and tied for third place in the Peach Belt Conference at 13-8. The Bobcats are currently third in the region in division strength of schedule (.560) and fifth in the region Ratings Percentage Index (.567). GCSU is also fourth in the region in the  Key Performance Indicator (0.243).Â
The Bobcats are one of four Peach Belt institutions under consideration. GCSU joins Columbus State University, Lander University and the University of North Georgia in the initial rankings. The other teams under consideration in the region are Anderson (S.C.) University, Carson-Newman University, Francis Marion University, Lenoir-Rhyne University, Southern Wesleyan University and Wingate University.
The Bobcats return to action Friday (April 24) with a 3 p.m. Peach Belt contest against Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia. The teams will also play a noon doubleheader Saturday (April 25).
