MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College volleyball team (4-19, 1-12 PBC) gave it everything they had on the court against Peach Belt Conference (PBC) lead No. 20, Armstrong Atlantic State University (19-0, 11-0 PBC) Friday in the Centennial Center.

The Bobcats came out swinging but came up short in the first set, losing 25-20. The Bobcats stunned the Pirates taking the second set 25-23. Prior to losing, Armstrong had taken their last 14 sets. Losing the momentum in the third set Georgia College came up short, 25-12. The final fourth set was neck and neck, but Armstrong prevailed, winning 25-23.

Rachel Reynolds (Marietta, Ga.) was the only Bobcat tonight to have double-digit kills with 13. Reynolds was accompanied by Caroline Long (Roswell, Ga.) with nine kills, Rachel Rice (Johns Creek, Ga.) with eight and Blake Willoughby (Savannah, Ga.) with seven. Overall, the Bobcats' hitting percentage of .166 was no match for Armstrong's .261.

Two Bobcats had double-digit digs in the match. Caroline Ham (Marietta, Ga.) led the team with 24 and Rice followed her with 18. Armstrong led the Bobcats by only eight in total digs for the match.

The Bobcats had six players record blocks in the match, led Willoughby with six individually. The Bobcats won the battle at the net with 10 team blocks to Armstrong's nine. The 10 blocks was a season high for Georgia College.

Armstrong had four players with double-digit kills. Jessica Santaniello led the team with 20. Both Taylor Permenter and Emily Wylie had 12 kills and Kristen Holmes followed them with 11. They also had four players with double-digit digs. Stephanie Sfara led with 19, and Jessica Santaniello and Morgan Hill tied with 16 digs. Megan Pando had 15.

The Bobcats are 1-12 in Peach Belt Conference (PBC) play, tied with GRU Augusta for ninth in the conference standings. The top eight schools advance to the PBC Tournament in November. UNC Pembroke is eighth, one ahead of the pair in the win column.

The Bobcats next match will be on the road at USC Aiken, Oct. 30 at 7:00 p.m.
