MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – The Georgia College women's soccer team (1-2-1, 0-0 PBC) dominated on the final day of the annual Bobcat Shootout, beating the University of West Georgia (0-3-1, 0-0 GSC) 3-0 Sunday at Bobcat Field.
"I'm really happy for the girls to get their first win and for it to happen here at home in front of their family and friends," said head coach Hope Clark. "I am really proud of the effort they put in this week and it showed out on the field."
Sophomore Sol Baldassini (Miami) started things off right for the Bobcats, draining an unassisted goal in the 25th minute. Baldassini was not content with just one goal and heaved a line drive into the back of the net on a pass from senior Erin Griffin (Lawrenceville) in the 44th minute.
Late in the second half, with just a minute and a half left, Ally Barys (Ladera Ranch, Calif.) drained her first goal of the season on passes from Ashley Veilleux (Monroe) and Liz Franco (Alpharetta). Barys' goal is the ninth of her career, moving her into a tie for ninth place in Georgia College history.
Defensively the Bobcats could not be stopped. The entire back line contributed to keeping the Wolves scoreless for 90 minutes. Annie Stephens (Fayetteville) recorded three saves for the day, giving her a total of nine on the season.
The Bobcats will be back in action on Wednesday, Sept. 17 at 7 p.m. against Anderson University at Bobcat Field.
