Box Score AUGUSTA, Ga. – The regular season came to a close for Georgia College volleyball (12-15, 6-12 PBC) Wednesday night in a four set loss at Augusta University (17-13, 8-10 PBC).
The Bobcats picked up a win in the first set 25-21, but couldn't continue momentum, as the Jaguars took the final three 25-23, 25-17 and 31-29.
The loss puts Georgia College in the No. 8-seed for the upcoming Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Tournament, meaning the Bobcats will travel to No. 1-seed USC Aiken for the opening round Nov. 17.
"We played really well tonight," said head coach Gretchen Krumdieck. "Both teams were evenly-matched. We are looking forward to getting back on the court at the conference tournament."
The Bobcats had four attackers with double-digit kills, led by 14 from freshman Taylor Svehla (Cumming). Junior Caroline Long (Roswell) had 13, while Ebony Powers (Jacksonville, Florida) and Miller Howard (Suwanee) tallied 11 each. Long had a team-best five blocks as well.
Both Long and Howard had double-doubles, as Howard brought up 19 digs and Long 14. Sophomore Katie Ray (Cumming) led the team with 21 digs, while senior Ella Anastasiades (Atlanta) had 13. Freshman Kayla Brockway (Jacksonville, Florida) ran the offense well with 44 assists.
The Bobcats return to action Tuesday, Nov. 17, taking on the Pacers in Aiken, South Carolina.
