Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

FLORENCE, S.C. – The Georgia College volleyball team (3-2) has now rattled off three victories in a row, sweeping two at the Francis Marion University Invitational Saturday. The Bobcats started the day with a straight-set win over the University of West Alabama (1-4) and a marathon five-setter with North Greenville University (4-2).

"It was a good day for the Bobcats," said head coach Gretchen Krumdieck. "The key to our success right now is staying calm in pressure situations. We are looking to build on this momentum tomorrow."

The Bobcats made quick work of UWA by scores of 25-19, 25-21 and 25-21. Rookie Taylor Svehla (Cumming, Georgia) contributed 15 points to the cause, tallying 13 kills and four total blocks. Svehla hit an amazing .667 on her 18 attacks. Junior Miller Howard (Suwanee, Georgia) got into double-digit kills with 10 for the first time this season, adding nine digs to the effort.

Freshman setter Kayla Brockway (Jacksonville, Florida) had a double-double at 35 assists and a team-best 12 digs. Sophomore Katie Ray (Cumming, Georgia) joined her with a team-high 12 digs.

After taking the first set from NGU 25-23, the Crusaders responded with wins in the second and third 25-19 and 25-22. Backs against the wall, the Bobcats finished out 25-21 and 15-11 to get the win.

Two Bobcats reached the 20-kill plateau, as Svehla paced the team at 21 and junior Caroline Long (Roswell, Georgia) added 20 of her own, a personal record. Svehla hit .529 while Long posted a dominant .562 percentage. Svehla had four aces and four total blocks, finishing with 27.5 points.

Ray led Georgia College with 26 digs, with Brockway adding 17 and Howard 10. Brockway's school-record 55 assists helped her to a third-straight double-double.

The squad's 65 kills set a school record, breaking the mark set against Flagler College in 2014, and the .283 hitting mark is tops in school history for five-set matchups, topping the .273 against Slippery Rock University a year ago.

The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, Sept. 12 at 3 p.m., taking on the University of Alabama-Huntsville. Georgia College finishes the tournament tomorrow at 7 p.m. against the University of Mount Olive.
