Box Score YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. – The Georgia College Soccer program (9-5, 5-3 PBC) got two goals from Amanda Bartholomew (Peachtree City) and eight saves from Ashlee Graham (Decatur) in a crucial 2-1 win at Young Harris College (8-4-1, 5-2-1 PBC) Saturday. The win was the 100th in head coach Hope Clark's coaching career, including 65 on the Bobcat sidelines.
Bartholomew's first strike put her atop the single season recordbooks at Georgia College, passing a 10-year old mark set by Hayley Ferrell for single-season goals. Bartholomew now has 18 scores this season, with two more regular-season matches left.
The Bobcat striker had the lone goal of the first half, finding the back of the net in the 18th minute. Junior Unnbjorg Omarsdottir (Reykjavik, Iceland) sent a thru ball into the box that was misplayed by the Mountain Lion goalkeeper, and Bartholomew made Young Harris pay for a 1-0 lead.
That one strike would hold until halftime, as it took until the 63rd minute for Bartholomew to double the Bobcat advantage. Freshman Kai Jeffries (Lawrenceville) forced a turnover and found Bartholomew for Jeffries' first career assist.
Lucero Robayo got the Mountain Lions on the board in the 73rd minute, cutting the Bobcat lead in half with her sixth goal of the season, but YHC could inch no closer. The Mountain Lions had four shots over the remainder of the contest, all saved by Graham.
The Bobcat netminder made eight stops in the win, her ninth of the season.
The Bobcats now have 15 points in the Peach Belt Conference (PBC) Standings, good for sixth. With three matches left, the Bobcats could finish with as much as 21. The top eight qualify for the PBC Tournament, while the top four receive hosting rights for the quarterfinal round matchups.
