MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga.- The Georgia College Volleyball team (7-14, 1-5 PBC) battled back from match point in the third set to force five frames with Flagler College (17-6, 4-2 PBC) in a 3-2 loss.
In the match, junior libero Jordyn Moellering (Cumming) passed both Chandler Ewaldsen (2017) and Kayla Brockway (2018) to become the all-time digs leader for GC Volleyball. Moellering now has 1,309 in her career, one more than Brockway.
Flagler took the first two sets 25-19 and 25-21. The Saints were even serving with match point at 24-23 in the third set. Junior Libby Bochniak (Marietta) responded with a kill, and the teams then traded blows. When the dust settled, a Sarah Stewart (Savannah) kill would give the Bobcats a 31-29 set victory. Georgia College then took the fourth set 25-19, but then ran out of gas in the fifth, losing to Flagler 15-6.
Bochniak and Stewart both tallied 16 kills for the match to lead the attack. Both players had double-doubles, as Bochniak had a team-best 25 digs and Stewart added 12.
Freshman Emily Long (Mooresville, North Carolina) had a double-dip of her own with 48 assists and 14 digs. Moellering added 21 digs to the cause, while Morgan Overly (St. Simons Island) added 13 and Nicole Cohen (Atlanta) 10.
The Bobcats are back in action Tuesday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m., playing host to Augusta University.
