MOBILE, Ala. – The Georgia College Men's Tennis team (4-3) took on No. 17 University of West Florida (8-2) at the Mobile Tennis Center Sunday, falling 7-0.
Action started with a doubles sweep. Sebastian Nunez (Buford, Georgia) and Enzo Sergi (Nice, France) lost in first doubles to Tomas Descarrega and Facundo Bermejo, 6-1.
Second doubles was a 6-2 loss for Karol Malirz (Marbella, Spain) and Jorge Robinson (Entre Rios, Argentina) to the nation's No. 41-ranked duo in Salvador Bandeira and Lluis Miralles Miro. The Bobcat third doubles pairing of Masumi Komada (Aichi, Japan) and Aurelien Arlot (Houilles, France) lost to Pedro Cordeiro and Bernardo Costa, 6-1.
In first singles, Malirz won the lone set of the day for the Bobcats, falling to national No. 32 Cabrera 6-7, 6-1, 6-0. Second singles saw a ranked battle as No. 52 Bermejo upset No. 51 Gabriel Cizek (Dolní Břežany, Czech Republic) with a 6-1, 6-0 effort. Robinson lost to Costa on the third line 6-3, 6-4.
In fourth singles, Komada dropped 6-1 and 7-6 sets to Descarrega. Sergi was beaten by Albin Ekenros 6-1, 6-3 in the fifth slot, and Jesus Villamizar Abia (Valencia, Venezuela) lost a 7-6, 6-2 matchup in sixth singles to Miro.
The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow, March 14 at 11 a.m., taking on Spring Hill College
