ALBANY, Ga. | The Georgia College & State University men's golf team opened up play at the Hurricane Invitational hosted by Georgia Southwestern State University Monday (Sept. 22).
The Bobcats shot rounds of 304 and 305 on the par 72, 7,024-yard layout at the Doublegate Country Club to stand in 14th place at 609 after 36 holes. Florida Southern College leads the tournament at 576, three strokes better than three other teams who are tied for second.
Jacob Speece and
Andrew Lutjens are tied for 46th place at 151. Speece had the low round of the day for the Bobcats with a 74 in the morning round and a 77 in the afternoon, while Lutjens carded scores if 75 and 76.
Andy Scott is tied for 51st at 152 after signing for back-to-back rounds of 76, while
Matthew Rogers is tied for 63rd place at 155 after scores of 79 and 76.
Zach Wiley rounds out the GCSU contingent in a tie for 71st at 157 after scorecards of 79 and 78.
The 54-hole tournament concludes with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start Tuesday (Sept. 23).
